Panagiotis N. Koustoumpardis

Panagiotis N. Koustoumpardis is an Assistant Professor of Robotics with the Robotics Group at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics, University of Patras. He received both his Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics and his PhD in Robotics from the same Department. He teaches Robotics, Industrial Automation, Kinematics and Dynamics of Machines and Mechanisms, as well as Electrical Engineering and Electrical Machines. His research interests include the design and control of robotic systems, biomimetic robotic grippers, intelligent control, machine learning, machine vision, human–robot collaboration, and autonomous underground, ground and aerial robots. He has participated in and contributed to the development of numerous national and European research projects and is the Principal Investigator in six European projects focusing on autonomous robotic exploration and mining of critical raw materials, underwater robotics, soft robotic hands, and robotic insect manipulation. He has authored more than 70 scientific publications and supervised over 70 diploma and undergraduate theses. He supervises PhD dissertations and has served as a reviewer and editor for 43 international journals and 30 international conferences. He is also the founder and Scientific Coordinator of two student robotics initiatives at the University of Patras: Robots@UP and the Robotics Club. In addition, he has extensive experience in organizing robotics competitions, scientific conferences, and dissemination and educational activities.
