Ioanna Papaioannou

For more than two decades, Ioanna Papaioannou has quietly built a career around one steady focus: turning EU-funded projects into real, local results — coordinating teams for projects implemented by bodies such as the Ministries of Interior (Macedonia and Thrace Sector), Environment and Energy, and Tourism, and the Regions of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Central Macedonia, Western Macedonia and Epirus, as well as hospitals, municipalities and other bodies across Greece. This work has spanned projects in youth policy, education and skills development, culture, health, sustainable tourism, social inclusion and environmental sustainability, with digital transformation added more recently.

A graduate of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with an MSc in Rural Economy, she has done much of this work across borders, coordinating multicultural teams throughout South-East Europe and beyond – communicating fluently in English, French and Italian, as well as proficiently in Turkish and Spanish.

Along the way, she was President of the Union of Cultural Entities of the Thessaloniki Prefecture (2002-2007) and has served on the Board of the UNESCO Youth Club of Thessaloniki since 2017.
