Nikos Georgakos

Nikos Georgakos is a Civil Engineer and graduate of the Polytechnic School of Xanthi. Following the completion of his military service in the Hellenic Army, he worked in the construction sector as a partner in a construction and technical company based in Preveza.

He was first elected Mayor of Preveza on 1 June 2019, as founder and head of his municipal group, receiving 60.37% of the vote, and was re-elected on 8 October 2023 with 46.28%. He has also served as Administrator of Preveza General Hospital.

In addition to his mayoral duties, he serves as President of Epirus FODSA, is a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Greek Municipalities with Thermal Springs (SDIPE), and is a member of the Board of DEPAN (Network of Greek Cities for Development). He also serves as the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece (KEDE) representative on the INTERREG Greece-Italy Programme Committee.

With a professional background in engineering and public administration, Nikos Georgakos has focused on local development, infrastructure, environmental management, intermunicipal cooperation, and urban improvement. He is married to Riana Kontaratou and is the father of two children, Lefteris and Antonina.
